Special events are occasions with a specific purpose, or theme, where an added drum beat would enhance the overall atmosphere of the gathering. Drumming can help hold the intention of the space or create a particular mood. It can provide background ambiance during an art opening or private party. It can be a fun way to engage people and get a group involved during events like fundraisers and appreciation dinners. The drum can be a great addition to activities where physical movement is needed, helping to maintain the connection between body, breath, mind, and spirit—such as during nature walks, dancing, exercise, or yoga. The sound of the drum can also be used as a cleansing tool to help dispel unwanted energy from a person, place, or object. During a ceremony or ritual, it can be used to help create, open, or close sacred space and usher in the divine. 
Births, weddings, graduations, funerals, healing circles, harvest festivals, moon celebrations, and other religious/spiritual or nature-based gatherings are all examples of this. The drum can help bring people together, focus attention, and move things forward in a positive light.
